  10. This program is  a DOS shell that hides  the underlying operating
  11. system from the uninitiated user, yet  does not get in the way of
  12. the expert user.  The basic system consists of up to one thousand
  13. menu  files with  twenty-six menu  pages each.  Each page has ten
  14. entries for  a total of 260,000  entries to choose from.  You can
  15. start a menu entry by pointing to it with the cursor or the mouse
  16. and then press  the <Enter> key or left mouse button,  or you can
  17. simply  press the  number key  associated with  that entry.  Each
  18. entry can start a program,  run a batch file,  or execute any DOS
  19. command.  An entry can also have multiple steps which can include
  20. any or all of the  possibilities above plus special HDM functions
  21. and macros.  You can change  menu pages by  using the <PgUp>  and
  22. <PgDn>  keys  or  by  pressing  the  <A>  through  <Z> keys to go
  23. directly to  a page that  has menu entries  in it. Each  page and
  24. each  entry  has  a  user  definable  description.  You can go to
  25. another menu file  by using the menu action  function {MENU ###}.
  26. The menu files are numbered from zero to 999.

  28. The  <F10> key  displays a  horizontal  menu  at the  top of  the
  29. screen.  The  choices  from  the  menu  include:  "Menu", "Page",
  30. "Security", "Local", "Global", or "Exit". Help can be accessed at
  31. any time and will present you with another menu and  screens that
  32. explain how to use  the Hard Disk Menu System.  "Menu" allows you
  33. to add, change, delete, move, or copy the menu entry descriptions
  34. and their associated menu action. "Page" lets you change the name
  35. of  a Page  Index entry,  import pages,  switch pages,  or delete
  36. pages.  "Security"  allows  you  to  set  up  User ID's, security
  37. levels,  and passwords.  "Local" lets  you set  variables in  the
  38. current menu file and "Global" lets you set variables that affect
  39. all  menu files.  "Exit" leaves  HDM and  returns you  to the DOS
  40. prompt or opens a DOS window  where you can  run any DOS command,
  41. program,  or  batch  file.  Other  commands  in  the  Top  Menu's
  42. pull-down menus  allow you to  change colors and  window borders,
  43. set  up  macros,  add  menu titles,  set  mouse sensitivity,  set
  44. communications parameters, set time for automatic blanking of the
  45. menu screen,  and  set up  hands-off timed  execution of any menu
  46. entry any time of the day, week, or month.

  54. and directory pick list functions,  not a TSR,  user defined logo
  55. screen and  help screens, Auto-Build for  adding menu items, pass
  56. keystrokes to other programs, multiple menu interfaces, full menu
  57. customization of colors, borders, cursor, and windows.

  59. New "REPORTS" module allows activity log  reporting on  projects,
  60. users, menu entries, files, dates, and duration time. Export data
  61. to dBASE files, ASCII file, or printer.  Customize all reporting.
